Aventuur names Thomas Rubel to key position in North America

Aventuur announced this week that Thomas Rubel has joined the company as Head of Development North America. In this position, Tom will be leading development initiatives and partnerships as Aventuur grows their North American projects.

“Tom is one of the most impressive people I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with,” said Nicholas Edelman of Aventuur. “His depth of character is only matched by his depth of skillset in mixed-use development, amongst other endeavors. We couldn’t think of a better person to lead our North American development efforts and further add to the culture of Aventuur.”

Prior to joining Aventuur, Tom was the Managing Director of Development and Construction at Irongate, primarily focused on the development of Costa Palmas, their 1,500-acre mixed-use, masterplan resort community on the East Cape of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The development includes a Four Seasons, Aman Hotel, golf course, marina and branded residences.

“After six great years with Irongate I’m excited to join the amazing team at Aventuur,” said Thomas. “The new role is a further alignment of my skillset and passion and I look forward to leading development efforts for our North American projects.”

Before his career in development, Tom was in the United States Marine Corps and played lacrosse while studying at Harvard University.

Last month Aventuur received development approval for their Perth, Australia Surf Park. The heart of the park will be a 56-module Wavegarden ‘Cove’ surfing lagoon, offering waves for all abilities. The innovative precinct will also feature a beach club, bars and restaurants, high-performance surfing academy, surf hire store, wellness and recovery centre, fitness studio, co-working lounge, functions spaces and community amenities including a skate park, pump track and naturescaped gardens.

The surf park is also expected to host regular events, including surfing competitions, cultural and music festivals, and charity fundraisers. Aventuur says the park will open in late 2025.
